GRANPA MADE A WONDERFUL SEAFOOD CHRISTMAS EVE DINNER

 Adolph's cooking will always be missed.

I loved his seafood dishes.

Baccala soup with a pinch of raisins the way his mother made it.

Cod frying.

Calamari rings.

Crab was always good.

Fish with a pinch of parsley.

Seafood sauce on homemade egg noodles.

Scallops were one of my favourites.

Adolph's seafood sauce.

Scrimps made the easy way.

Fish breaded was an easy way to eat another dish.

So the memories of a good meal will have to suffice.

GRANPA LOVED STRUFFOLl OR HONEY BUBBLES

 Granpa or Adolph really loved struffoli or honey bubbles.

His mother would make three of them and Adolph would eat two.

He made it after she passed away.

Now Sonya makes some for the family.

So family traditions continue.

I need to research which area of Italy the dish originates.

GRANPA WOULD CELEBRATE CANADA AT THE WORLD CUP AND EAT SPAGHETTI

 Granpa loved soccer. 

He watched all the games. He loved Lazio playing.

World cups were his favourite.

So if he were here, he would be rooting for Canada. Of course Italy is not playing in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

So Go Canada Go!

Granpa would approve.

And he would be doing a lot of cooking and eating for his gang!!

He would probably make a huge spaghetti dish.

Oh the memories of his food.

GRANPA'S RECIPES ARE NEEDED DURING THE FESTIVE SEASON

 Adolph loved to make the seafood dishes.

He made struffoli one year.

So I will be reviewing some of his best to cook for the season.

Meanwhile, I was at a PC event with Sonya and got a goodie bag.

Some items were donut mixes to try. 

So I will let you know how it goes.

GRANPA'S SOUPS SOOTHE THE SOUL FOR COLDER TIMES

 Adolph sure made some wonderful soups.

I find them hard to do.

I loved his veggie soup. It was a good one to take to work.

The wedding soup was so simple too.

But his baccala soup with just a touch of raisins made good by his mother was one of his favourites.

His Zuppa di pesce or Seafood soup was my favourite. And with some fresh bread or buns- DELICIOUS!!

PREPARING FOR A THANKSGIVING FEAST

 Buying all the ingredients happens over several weeks.

I used to buy a fresh turkey but now a frozen will do. 

Along with the Italian sausages and extra turkey thighs and legs there is enough meat.

Lots of appetizers, veggies and desserts round off the feast.

The flight into Fall cooking and eating.

So cleaning the dust bunnies from the house is a slow process too.

GRANPA'S RECIPES ARE BEING USED-ITALIAN STEW

 Sonya likes to make her Dad's Italian stew.

Her family love it and it has become a family tradition.

I remember the aroma in the house.

The recipe can be found on the March 25, 2012 Post.

It is entitled Spezzatino Di Manzo- Italian Beef Stew.

The stew on mashed potatoes. It actually tastes better than it looks. My food pictures have improved. LOL
