EATALY PURE FLOUR FROM EUROPE EVENT- GRANPA WOULD HAVE LOVED IT

 What fun to attend a Media Event with my daughter Sonya.

At Eataly on Bloor Street in Toronto, Pure Flour from Europe was the theme of the event.

Prosecco and some buschetta started the evening off. 

A slice of pizza with two different kinds on it. 

The Chef- Julien Spiewak made delicious food. Three dishes of pasta made with the flour.

So I did some basic research. The flour is organic soft wheat. Durum flour and semolina are made from this sourced product throughout Italy and Europe.

There is an Italian Association of Millers. (ITALMOPA)

We all received a gift bag with information that I still need to read. An apron and tote bag will be handy for future events.

There were a variety of media people present. Sonya did a fun post on her Instagram after the event. Look for House of Kerrs in your instagram feeds.

The Consular General from the Italian Consulate in Toronto was present along with other Toronto media people. Toronto was just one of their media stops in North America.

The most fun was just being downtown, riding the subway and being with my daughter. Of course the food rounded out the event.

Adolph would have enjoyed an event like that one. So I represent Granpa whenever I can. Even though he loved to cook and eat, Nana loves to eat too.

FOOD MEMORIES ARE THE BEST AND GRANPA GAVE US SO MANY

Coming home each night to a home cooked meal was such a blessing.

Adolph loved to cook and to eat.

I miss the seafood meals.

 But a salad with homemade pizza- zuchinni and swiss chard were good too.

EASTER MEAL WAS A FAVOURITE OF GRANPA-LAMB LASAGNA CANASCIONE

Mostly he liked it because there was no turkey. 

 Adolph loved to make homemade pasta either spaghetti or lasagna.

Adolph's homemade lasagna was always a hit. His recipe can be found in a link on the sidebar of past posts.

Lamb was marinated with lemon, garlic and rosemary before cooking.

GRANPA LOVED TO GET HIS BARBECUE READY IN MARCH-SPRING IS COMING

 I know some people barbecue year round.

Adolph and I were warmer weather people.

Remembering the steaks, sausage and chicken and later in his cooking grilled vegetables.

Those outdoor meals. A Friday night with homemade pizza was so good too.

GRANPA LOVED STEAK AND GARLIC BREAD- A GOOD WINTER MEAL

Simple meals. Simple food.

Adolph loved to cook steak for a quick meal. In winter, in the pan. In summer, on the barbecue.

A good crunchy garlic bread always goes with steak.

February is a good time for steak.

GRANPA LOVED SEAFOOD DISHES-WHY NOT IN FEBRUARY TOO!!

 Seafood dishes are popular at Christmas Eve.

But February is a month to try and find ways to enjoy the month with good food.

Of course Super Bowl Sunday means eating wings for many.

The dilemma is do I eat wings on Sunday or a seafood dish!!

FEBRUARY-GRANPA LOVED WINTER MEALS

 Pot roast.

Soups.

And lot of pasta with sauce carried us through February.

Even comfort food- mac and cheese. I liked the ketchup not Granpa.
