GRANPA CELEBRATES CANADA DAY WITH CANADIAN FOOD

Granpa ate bacon and pancakes with maple syrup for breakfast. Topped off with two cups of coffee.
Lunch may be a burger or hot dog or barbecued steak.
I would like to make mac n cheese with good cheddar cheese.

We had a nanaimo bar and butter tart yesterday.

Maybe some seasonal fruit like a good strawberry with cake and ice cream. Or seasonal veggies.

Or a fried chicken with tomato and cucumber salad.
Or a pork chop with a baked potato. Or maybe some potato salad or bean salad or cole slaw.
Oh the choices of what to eat and so much more.

GRANPA LOVES CIAMELLA OR CIAMBELLA

Okay I need to buy ciamella for Adolph. So my favourite store Grande Cheese will have them on Saturdays. I bought 6 yesterday and can freeze them for the week. Adolph loves them.

GRANPA EATS VIVO CALAMARI AND PIZZA FOR FATHER'S DAY LUNCH

Nice crunchy calamari from VIVO- a pizza/pasta restaurant in Richmond Hill. Margherita pizza and some Vodka pasta rounded off the meal. Our oldest daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren brought the food. Natasha made the delicious homemade salad. With some drinks it was a tasty lunch. Of course paper plates work well for an easy cleanup for the Nana. Then my sweet grandson asked if I would take him to the Raptors parade tomorrow. I would have loved to but home responsibilities come first. a precious moment. Lunch finished, so time for one of those afternoon naps.

GRANPA HAS ABRUZZO MEAL FOR FATHER'S DAY

My daughter, son-n-law and family brought a great Abruzzo Pizza meal to granpa for Father's Day on Saturday night..
Pizza, chicken parmigiano, greek salad, sphagetti with their tomato sauce was a hit. for all.
We have been eating from Abruzzo Pizza since it was opened back in the 80s. Knew the original owners.
So if in Richmond Hill, it is worth a try to eat their delicious food. They have a small dining area too for those that do not want to eat at home.

GRANPA LOVES HIS CIAMBELLA

Ciambella or nicknamed ciamella!! Thanks to Grande Cheese I bought Adolph 6 of his favourite. They are very hard to find but now I think I have a source for them. I put 4 in the freezer for the week. I will try to buy them every week for him. He loves them.

GRANPA LOVES MAMA'S PEAR TREE

When we bought the property in 1986 from our mother- Concetta, there was a pear tree on our side. She was concerned that we would want to cut it down. No I loved trees and Adolph loved pears.
So to see it blooming so well this year is very endearing. Visible from the family room and kitchen.

With the white blossoms lasting through some wind and rain, maybe there is hope for lots of pears this year.

GRANPA LOVES HIS TOMATO PLANT

I visited Valley View Gardens to buy a plant or two. Adolph's cousin Rita gave him a big tomato plant for the back garden.The family has operated the greenhouses for over 50 years.

It has a good spot in the sun. Adolph can see it growing from his chair in the family room.
Sicilian Heritage. It will have big tomatoes.

the pole beans on the other hand will be awhile before there will be a dish!
The back porch garden is coming along.
