One of several franchise locations, Barb and I went to the newly opened restaurant at Bathurst and Carville in Richmond Hill. VIVO-pizza+pasta!
The daughter and son-in-law of one of my first cousins are the owners.
Barb and I had the Insalata Caprese as an Antipasti.
Fior di latte cheese, basil and sun dried tomato pesto with extra virgin olive oil.
Barb ordered the Calamari and Gamberetti Fritti- crispy fried calamari and shrimps served with lemon-garlic aioli and balsamic vinegar.
I had the Scaloppine alla Parmigiana- Breaded veal scaloppini with tomato sauce, Fior di latte cheese served with spaghetti Pomodoro. Barb did not get a picture as I ate too fast!
Barb had a cappuccino after the meal.
VIVOand I had my espresso- no dolci!
Andrea explained the concept. Orders are taken at the front either for take-out or you can order, find a seat and the food will be taken when ready to your table.
Casual location- my style and good tasty food. A good dinner for the cook. Sometimes the cook needs to taste something new. I sure will recommend VIVO to family and friends.

WEEKEND OF GOOD EATING ENDS WITH HOMEMADE SOUP
We started the weekend Friday night with a pizza , veggies and dip and fresh fruit at one family home. The pizza was from Grande Cheese where the ladies there make a wonderful Ciociaria style pizza. Saturday was a club sandwich from Tim Horton's. But Sunday the cook was back. Fresh homemade vegetable soup simmered on the stove in the afternoon. I used up some left over meat sauce to make a small penne casserole with mozzarella baking it in the oven. With Easter on the horizon, I have to start planning the menu.

PIZZA AND MORE PIZZA ALONG WITH CAKE
My little granddaughter turned 2 on Thursday. So a quick pizza dinner and cake to share in the event at her home with the other grandchildren was fun. Then her birthday party with friends at a playground setting Friday with more pizza, fresh vegetables and dip, fruit and cake. Celebrating was more important than staying on my diet. So today no more pizza and just the veggies and dip. Well maybe- Barb did bring some pizza home from the party!!

FRIDAY IS PIZZA AND CALAMARI
So I bought my pizza for the gang from Grande Cheese as normal. I had bought a large bag of calamari or I thought they were calamari. Anyway sitting down to dinner Friday the calamari looked rather thin. My little grandson stated are they onion rings grandpa? Barb even dipped hers in cocktail sauce. They looked like calamari in the bag. So we had pizza and onion rings along with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden. Not time I will read the package. However, they were in the frozen fish section of the store!

GRANPA ENJOYS A SUPERBOWL PARTY PACK-2014
Superbowl Sunday is a day for the guys to get together and yell at the TV. It is really an American day of football delights but many Canadians enjoy it too. So Barb decided since we were not going to anyone's house as we have in the past to have our own little party at home. Ordering one of those party packs-pizza, garlic bread, chicken wings and dip- from a Pizza place would help with the mood. Of course, a nice platter of fruit to round off the meal! Nice to have a day off cooking! Sunday as you may know if you read my blog regularly is usually my day off!
